Jessica and her Mom came to me to have studio senior portraits done. While photographing, I found out that not only is Jessica a superb tennis player (medals, trophies, state champs!) but she also went down to Louisiana with a group of students and helped with the rebuilding of schools after hurricane Katrina. Three years worth of work was done in the time that Jessica and the other students were down there! Is that cool or what!!! GO CLASS OF 2010!!!

Afton Aurora Borea Smith

Seven week old Afton Aurora Borea Smith was brought home from the Woodbury Humane Society on July 15, 2009! She is a delightful, playful, and snugly kitten who has completely stolen our hearts! Today, at 9 weeks, Afton is puffing and jumping sideways as she tries to disguise herself as the puma we're sure she thinks she is! Our 2 1/2 year old Tiger remains patient while Afton tests her boundaries. Today, Afton stalked Tiger's tail while he slumbered peacefully in the sun. Afton soon gave in and joined him in his nap.

Yesterday, July 27, was our first Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS) Affiliate Appreciation Day! The area coordinators and Twin Cities lead, Heather Lombardo, hosted an all day picnic at Minnehaha Park. The day ended with a balloon release honoring every child photographed. Thank you to all the volunteers who make this wonderful organization happen!

So the World May Hear

I just got home from photographing the Awards Gala. I am totally blown away by Bill and Tani's commitment to their global mission of helping those in need. "Need" magazine, issue 5 of 2008 has a wonderful article (with photography by Andy Richter) on the foundation. Click here to be inspired ...

Jack saved his money to buy himself a pair of rollerblades. He got them this morning and in no time was up and blading! The last picture is a testament to how proud he is of himself...I am too!

Starkey Hearing Foundation

I will be a contributing photographer again this year for the Starkey Hearing Foundation's 9th Annual "So the World May Hear" Awards Gala. The Gala serves as Starkey Hearing Foundation's signature fundraising event. Monies raised at the Gala help fund the Foundation's domestic and international hearing mission trips. Last year's Gala raised a record $5 million! Elton John, Billy Crystal, Gladys Knight and Tony Bennett are headlining this year's "So the World May Hear" Awards Gala. Please visit for information and to view images taken! The public is invited to the celebrity red carpet (St. Paul RiverCentre) from 2:30 - 4:45pm on Sunday, July 12 to get photographs and autographs with attending celebrities. Hope to see you there!!!!
